We were recently notified of a suspicious email received by one of our site owners of this newest attempt. Remember, they do everything in their power to make these attempts look authentic. If you are hosted by us, you will get emailed by us, no one else. For the few commercial accounts who manage their domain(s) directly, you could receive an email from enom.com.
This message was translated to multiple languages, I’ve only copied over english as personal account information needed to be truncated. As you can see the email it is directing you to laughably is an HTTP:// address which will not be used by a regulated agency and the domain (name-services.com) does not exist. It appears to be verifying contact information but what it is actually doing is collecting live/verified email addresses. Probably to sell to the people who do distribute malicious emails. If you receive this, do not click on any of the links and simply delete it.
If you have received this email and clicked on the link, you probably can expect future mailings from whoever the contact is sold to. There is no meaningful action that can be taken against attempts of this nature. Your best defense is to not click on any links in unsolicited emails and know that attempts of this nature target domain owners all the time. We know who you are and will never need to verify it.
Be sure to report suspicious correspondence to us so we can alert the rest of the DSS Hosting family.
