As many of you may know, now and then WordPress releases a major update that takes advantage of new developments in PHP that need to be elected by server admins occasionally. Generally, this impactful of an upgrade is not needed, but when it is, it is usually a series of compromises and four-letter words to get the install to continue to work as it did previously to perform the upgrade, without breaking other installations within a hosting package. Well, such an update is now required and it absolutely will not be pretty for anything installed that might be outdated. Any server admin will tell you that whenever possible, let sleeping dogs lie. The dog is awake, and it’s chasing down the mailman as I type this.

Starting as soon as possible, reversable testing will be applied on each hosting package to attempt to determine the collateral damage this required update will cause. If your site appears to be adversely affected, I will reach out to you to discuss the options that might be available.

Here’s to a non-eventful upgrade!
